Morni Hills Activities

The park was part of the larger game-plan to introduce outdoor activities and adventure sports to Morni hills. The park offered a series of rope obstacles such as the spider’s web, river crossing, Tarzan’s swing, the Burma Bridge etc.

A rock-climbing wall with grips for practicing climbing and a short vertical drop for rappelling were the other outdoor activities. Kayaking and angling were to be introduced in the adjoining Tikkar tal. Open-air lakeside camping with evening bonfires was planned.

There were plans to introduce biking and para-sailing as well. It was hoped that the adventure activities would attract groups from large corporates and educational institutions in the region and would provide the much needed fillip to the tourism potential of the picturesque hills of Morni.

Encounters with Leopards

A female leopard with her cubs was sighted at the Berwala Bird Sanctuary by two lady birdwatchers in January 2009. The leopards target Gorals (mountain goats) that are plentiful in the area. According to the locals, the Berwala temple, a modest whitewashed shrine surrounded by thick mango trees on the road to Morni, is frequented by ‘tigers’ (leopards?). The temple is the site for an annual fair.

The Burma Bridge

Structure has two parallel ropes – one above the other – strung from poles / trees, at a height of 25 feet. Participants are divided into teams. At one time, two participants will climb the structure from two opposite ends using ladders and walk across the ropes to the centre of the structure. They will walk on one rope while holding the other one at shoulder / head height for support. The participants will be secured with harnesses and the guiding / belay ropes will be handled by instructors.

Jungle Track

Flying Fox

TIKKER TAAL

Tikker Taal means, tikkar is the name of village in which taal is situated. English meaning taal is lake. A hill divides the two lakes, the larger one is callled Tikkar Taal which is 550 meter wide and 460 meter long and the smaller one is called Chota Tikkar Taal is 365 meter wide and long as the legend goes there is be a hidden channel linking them, as the water level of two lakes remains roughly the same Boating, trekking bird watching, leisure forest walks.

THAKUR DWAR TEMPLE

A 12th century temple exists near the tikkar taal and and archaeological dig uncovered 12th century artifacts which are kept there in the open. As per the local legend, the Thakur-dwar temple was built in the ancient times by the Pandavas after Yudhisthir saved his brothers by answering the ‘Yaksha Prashna‘. ‘The people of Morni believe that the Tikkar tal is the mystical ‘Lake of Death’ of the Mahabharat era and that the Thakur-dwar temple on its bank was built by the Pandavs in gratitude for being spared by the holy spirit.

MORNI FORT

The Morni Fort is a modest stone masonry structure built sometime in the 17th Century atop the Morni hill at a height of about 1200 metres. The fort is strategically located and dominates the road to Badiyal towards Sarahan in Himachal, the road to Trilokpur, the ridge road towards Thapli/ Mandana and the road to the Tals. The fort also overlooks the Morni town or Bhoj Jabial. There was a well/reservoir in the centre of the fort (now filled up).The air circulates through the wends in the domes to keep the atmosphere cool during summer months.

Bhoot Banglow is situated near Tikker tal mainatanied by Haryana Tousrim. Bhoot Bangla premised in crown interiorz mall is fun and spooky scary house for kids.

YADVINDER GARDEN AND WATER PARK

Yadvinder Garden, also called the Pinjore garden situated 20 kms off Panchkula is a very popular tourist spot. The work of establishing this garden began in the seventeenth century. Covering a total area of 100 acres, the Chandigarh Pinjore Garden serves as the venue of an annual event of mango festival.

Nada Sahib Temple

The Nada Sahib Gurudwara is a prominent Sikh religious site located in the Panchkula district of Haryana, India. It holds great significance for Sikh devotees and pilgrims from various parts of the country. Nada Sahib Gurudwara is dedicated to Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru. It is believed that Guru Gobind Singh, along with his army, stayed at this location during his journey to Anandpur Sahib.
